Dee and Charles Wyly Receive Community Recognition

Dee and Charles Wyly have been awarded the Dallas Children’s Theatre’s (DCT) Rosewood Award in the category of individual benefactors. The Rosewood Awards were presented during a special ceremony April 5, in Dallas. The awards are presented annually in honor of those individuals and institutions whose extraordinary contributions to DCT embody the philanthropic standards of the organization’s mission.

The Rosewood Awards Committee selects recipients who have demonstrated excellence in philanthropy and service in three categories: Corporate/Foundation, Individual and Special Recognition. In addition to honoring the Wylys, this year DCT recognized Texas Instruments Corporation and The T.I. Foundation as the recipient of the Corporate/Foundation Awards.

Robyn Flatt, DCT's Executive Artistic Director, said, "It is with great pride and honor that we pay tribute to these extraordinary friends. The Rosewood Awards allow us to show our gratitude for remarkable contributions and unwavering support through the years."

Dallas Children's Theater serves more than 260,000 young people and their families a year through its 10 main stage productions, national touring company, and education and outreach programs. DCT builds bridges of understanding between generations and cultures, instilling an early appreciation of literature and the performing arts in tomorrow's artists and patrons. In addition to being "one of the top 5 theaters for children in the country," according to TIME Magazine, DCT was recently honored as the "Best Theater" by the Dallas Observer in its 2006 Best of Dallas issue.
