Awards & Honors

Charles and Sam have received national recognition for their commitment to the community. The brothers are among the most recognized and celebrated philanthropists in America, most recently receiving the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship. The award is presented by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars to recognize "executives who, by their examples and their business practices, have shown a deep concern for the common good beyond the bottom line."

Charles and Sam also recently received the "Spirit of Entrepreneurship North Star" award for a lifetime of civic involvement. The award is presented by the Communities Foundation of Texas, the Entrepreneurs Foundation of North Texas and Dallas Social Venture Partners.

Alger Award” from the University of Michigan Business School, 1997; Charles receives the “Others Award” from The Salvation Army, 1997; Sam receives the “Horatio Alger Award,” 1970; Sam is named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Southern Methodist University, 1970; Sam is named “One of Ten Outstanding Young Men in America” by U.S. Jaycees, 1968; Sam named “One of Five Outstanding Young Texans” by Texas Jaycees, 1967.
