A Texas software company has donated $2.6 million in software and services to Gonzaga
University's business school, officials said Wednesday.
In late 1998, Dallas-based Sterling Software Inc. gave the high-priced package to Gonzaga in
response to a grant proposal to help train students in computer-aided software design, said
associate professor Jason Chen.
“Our program is pretty good,” said Chen, who teaches management information systems at the
School of Business Administration. “The only commitment I have is to use the software for teaching
and research, not commercial purposes.”
The donation was the largest gift of software ever received by the business school, Chen said.
Sterling, with $720 million in annual sales, is a leading provider of software and technical services
for application development, systems management and other markets.
